The latest poll on President Trump’s first two days in office presents a mixed bag of sentiments. While 47% of respondents express approval for his administration, which surpasses his approval ratings during much of his first term, his recent policy actions have faced a dip in popularity. The pardons for those involved in the January 6 Capitol insurrection, signed by Trump, have only been supported by 42% of the respondents. As for his handling of the perceived politicization of the Justice Department, only 29% are pleased with his approach. On the other hand, his stance on immigration reform has garnered broad support, with 46% in favor of his efforts and 58% agreeing with the need to ‘dramatically reduce’ the number of migrants seeking asylum at the border. Trump’s moves to revoke birthright citizenship and declare a national emergency, including deploying military assets to the U.S.-Mexico border, remain to be seen how effectively they will address the border issues.
