Amidst the backdrop of the potential U.S. ban on TikTok, American and Chinese social media users have surprisingly formed a wonderful unity on RedNote. At the end of this farce, the U.S. government’s plan to ban TikTok may backfire. “TikTok refugees” have flocked to RedNote, a Chinese app similar in format to TikTok, and have been warmly welcomed. Interestingly, Chinese users have not only enthusiastically taught Americans how to use the app, but some have even semi-jokingly suggested that “TikTok refugees” should pay taxes to use RedNote. This perhaps illustrates that the U.S. government’s ban has actually brought Chinese and American users closer together.
