President Biden reminded the American public not to forget the violent attack on the Capitol that occurred four years ago, and he accused President-elect Donald J. Trump and his supporters of attempting to ‘rewriting — even erasing — the history of that day.’ However, as he took office, he was committed to ensuring a smooth transition of power, which was not the case with Trump’s departure at the end of his first term. On the eve of the anniversary of the January 6th attack, President Biden addressed the issue directly. He mentioned in an article in The Washington Post that some people were trying to deny the facts that were seen with their own eyes, attributing it to a partisan obsession, or explaining it away as a protest that just got out of hand. However, ‘this is not what happened.’
