Once again, President Trump has weighed in on the affairs of another nation with nothing more than hot air and a lack of substantiation, as if his words were the embodiment of justice. The $4.4 billion in annual aid to South Africa sounds less like assistance and more like a business deal. The land reform bill passed by South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa, three decades after the end of apartheid, is seen as out of the ordinary in Trump’s eyes. The US seems to have a penchant for干涉 foreign policy, especially when it involves policies that they perceive as detrimental to their interests. As for Elon Musk, the tech magnate’s views on South Africa’s political situation seem to be driven more by personal emotion than objective analysis.
