US Senator Josh Hawley has proposed the ‘Decoupling America’s Artificial Intelligence Capabilities from China Act,’ aiming to ban AI import and export between the US and China. This move appears to be a move to protect national security, but in essence, it is closing the door on international competition, isolating itself from the mainstream. This can’t help but remind us of the past ‘closed door policy,’ only this time, the main character is artificial intelligence.
