The letters GLH are not just a mere combination of letters in the eyes of many automotive enthusiasts; they embody a memory of speed and passion. In 1984, Dodge boldly ventured into the highly competitive hot hatchback market. The standard Omni, with its affordable price and choice of three or five doors, certainly appealed to the hearts of car enthusiasts. However, Dodge was not content with that. They sought assistance from Carroll Shelby, leading to the birth of the GLH name, which meant ‘Goes Like Hell’. Equipped with a 2.2-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, it produced a remarkable 145 horsepower, far surpassing the VW GTI of that era with its 80 horsepower from a naturally aspirated 1.8-liter engine. In 1986, the GLH-S raised the bar even further with 175 horsepower, thanks in part to an improved intercooler. Now, Dodge is preparing to revitalize the GLH with a hotter version of the Hornet, seemingly as a nod to the past.
