The Suzuki DR-Z lineup, with its overhaul at last year’s EICMA, was a sight to behold, offering a significant refresh after 23 years. But the introduction in the American market seems less than auspicious. Priced at a steep $8,999, it outstrips the previous DR-Z400S and DR-Z400SM models by a considerable margin. When compared with the similarly priced KTM 390 series, the value proposition seems less appealing. Especially when faced with the Honda XR650L and the unyielding Kawasaki KLR650, the pricing strategy for the DR-Z4S leaves potential buyers pondering. Despite the 398cc single-cylinder engine and the array of updates, the inclusion of a five-speed transmission and electronic assists may not entirely make up for the price discrepancy.
