Yet, the reaction from the Republicans on Capitol Hill has been eerily quiet, at times approaching silence. There has been little to no opposition to Mr. Trump’s attempts to draw closer to President Putin or blame Ukraine as he seeks to expedite the end of the war sparked by Russia’s invasion. While some Republicans have voiced their concerns over Mr. Trump’s actions and statements, the absence of a coordinated effort to challenge him from the leadership or key senators overseeing military and foreign policy in Congress raises questions about the party’s internal strife and its ability to present a united front against external foes.
