As the final days of his presidency loom, President Biden appears to be playing a game of political ‘bomb defuser’, trying to solidify his policy agenda and simultaneously setting up hurdles for President-elect Donald J. Trump’s incoming tenure. Among the decisions, many of which are executive actions, are measures on environmental justice, prison reform, and immigration, which on the surface seem like the inheritance of political legacy, but are actually the last-minute dash. These moves have caused quite the stir with Trump, who vowed on social media to make the transition process ‘as difficult as possible.’ Yet, White House officials claim they are working to ensure a smooth power transfer. The longevity of these decisions, however, will depend on Trump’s ‘artistry’ upon taking office.
