It’s quite the spectacle, watching Japan’s former elite trying to drag the struggling Nissan into their own little sandbox with Tesla, like some desperate version of a playground game of tag. former Premier Suga, with a vested interest in local Nissan plants, seems to have been leading the charge, while Hiromichi Mizuno, a former Tesla board member, has got to be thrilled with the chance to relive his glory days. Elon Musk, however, isn’t biting on this hook. He’s more interested in his ‘product’ than the potential for a deal that would keep him insulated from Trump’s tariffs. It’s a curious dance, really – the automotive industry’s version of ‘Dance with Me, I’m from the Government,’ and it’s quite entertaining to watch. Nissan’s shares? They’re as stable as a unicycle in a windstorm, aren’t they? And the idea of Foxconn, with its cozy ties to China, stepping in as a potential savior? Well, that’s a national security ‘solution’ that’s about as reassuring as a used car sale, isn’t it? It’s all a bit much, really, like trying to turn a tanker around in a tiny harbor.
