It seems like the Great TikTok Exile is upon us, and all these Americans are in a panic, searching for their next digital opiate. I guess when you can’t have your regular fix, you have to settle for some ‘Little Red Book’ alternative, right? It’s like the Supreme Court is just a bunch of ‘free speech’ cops, trying to keep the party in check. And Donald Trump, the king of deferring decisions, wants to ‘negotiate a political resolution’? Oh, the irony. Meanwhile, Instagram and YouTube, the two biggest social media rehab centers, are drooling over the potential influx of users. I mean, can’t these kids just enjoy a TikTok ban without having to migrate to a service that’s as predictable as a parent’s choice of music? And Twitch? A live streaming platform for the new generation of reality TV addicts? It’s like the tech world is just desperate to find a new flavor of social media crack. Poor Lemon8, trying so hard to be the new TikTok when it’s clearly just a Pinterest with a side of Instagram. And let’s not forget Clapper, the clone with the freedom of speech that went poof! Oh well, maybe there’s still a chance for a new platform to emerge, but I wouldn’t bet on it. The market is already saturated with enough social media apps to make your head spin.
