Ah, Chris Wright, the fossil fuel executive who’s now championing nuclear power, the only way to power our insatiable appetite for AI, right? Sounds like a perfect combination – nuclear waste AND data centers. Who could possibly object? The nation’s top-secret project during World War II, the one that dropped bombs, is now inspiring a Manhattan Project for energy? Well, at least we’re keeping up the tradition of secrecy, right? And let’s not forget, the U.S. leads in nuclear electricity generation… which is about 20% of our total annual electricity. Impressive, isn’t it? Arizona and California, the true pioneers of nuclear innovation, must be thrilled to have the largest nuclear plant and a 1 billion dollar extension for their aging reactors. Wyoming, on the other hand, seems eager to be the dumping ground for nuclear waste. Bill Gates’ TerraPower, a shining beacon of progress, is leading the way with advanced reactors. Let’s hope they’re as advanced as the ones that power our phones. And to top it all off, President Trump and the Biden administration are both singing the nuclear power anthem, one that promises to triple nuclear power by 2050. It’s a brave new world, isn’t it? A world where we’re just one step away from creating a nuclear waste problem that could outlive us all.
