Well, it seems Mercedes-AMG is having a bit of a ‘V-8 moment,’ aren’t they? What a surprise! They thought they were so clever with their ‘turbo four-cylinder’ engine, but now, they’re going back to the good old V-8, just in time for a mid-cycle refresh. What, were they expecting to win some sort of ‘Engine Downsizing’ award? I mean, come on, Affalterbach, it’s not like you’re new to the automotive world. It’s a bit like a magician pulling a rabbit out of a hat, but the rabbit’s actually a V-8. And what’s with this ‘flat-plane crankshaft’ business? It’s like they think they’re building race cars or something. Ferrari and Ford have been doing it forever, but Mercedes-AMG needs to catch up? At least they’re keeping the electric hybrid assist, right? Because we all know nothing says ‘performance’ like a V-8 with electric assistance. It’s the ultimate ‘two birds with one stone’ strategy, I guess!
