What a delightful display of Honda’s inability to innovate! While the 2025 Honda CBR300R is still stuck in the stone age, the CBR250RR is like a breath of fresh air in the suffocating market of unchanging entry-level sports bikes. Talk about a ‘baby CBR’ that has matured beyond its years, the CBR250RR has grown up in Asia, leaving the CBR300R to look like a lost puppy. Honda must have a special clause in their engineering manual for ‘design freeze,’ because it’s been 10 years and not a single update for the 300R – except for some new paint jobs, no doubt to attract buyers who can’t tell the difference between ‘bland’ and ‘old’. And let’s not even get started on the ‘advanced’ features like a ‘semi-analog display’ on the 300R. It’s like Honda decided to put their money into LED eyebrows for the CBR250RR and nothing else. I guess the Asian market has the excitement of a ‘modern’ Honda, but for us poor souls in the US, we’re left with the ‘perfect beginner sports bike’ that’s not even worth considering after the 250RR has shown its true colors.
