It’s no surprise that BMW, the European giant, tops the list of U.S. automotive exporters, with their Spartanburg plant churning out $10 billion worth of cars. But let’s not forget, these are the same folks who introduced the i3, a vehicle so revolutionary, it can’t even fit two people at once! And to think, they’re praising free trade as the secret sauce. Well, if only trade were as simple as swapping X5s for SUVs, we’d all be millionaires. It’s impressive how they’ve managed to export 63% of their global production from one place, but I bet they’re still looking for a market for that i8. ‘More than 6.5 million vehicles manufactured in 30 years?’ In Spartanburg, maybe that’s a record for the slowest assembly line in the industry!
