In those days, Mr. Miller was a lowly Senate aide railing against the perils of immigration. Now, he had morphed into a partner with the billionaire CEO of Meta, a man who he had once vilified as a globalist determined to dismantle the nation. The roles had reversed. Mr. Miller informed Mr. Zuckerberg that he had the chance to reshape America, but only on the terms set by the incoming President Donald J. Trump. He made it clear that Mr. Trump’s administration would clamp down on immigration and wage war on the culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion that Meta and much of corporate America had embraced in recent years. Mr. Zuckerberg seemed accommodating. He signaled to Mr. Miller and his colleagues, including other senior Trump advisors, that he would not stand in the way of the Trump agenda, according to three individuals privy to the meeting, who preferred to remain anonymous. Mr. Zuckerberg declared his intention to focus solely on building tech products. He blamed his former COO, Sheryl Sandberg, for a inclusivity initiative at Facebook that encouraged employee self-expression in the workplace, according to one of the individuals. He suggested that new guidelines and a series of layoffs marked a reset and more changes were on the horizon. One cannot help but ponder, has Mr. Zuckerberg changed, or has the times?
