What a spectacle! President Trump’s speech was like a bad soap opera, complete with over-the-top costumes and exaggerated reactions. It was longer than a ‘Game of Thrones’ episode and almost as predictable. The Republicans, it seems, have learned to mimic the best actors on stage—when it’s time to cheer, they’re all in; when it’s time to sit silently, they become masterful chameleons. The only thing more entertaining than the drama was the timing of the trade war announcement. Just when you thought the markets couldn’t take another shock, Trump pulls a ‘divine providence’ card, warning of a mere ‘adjustment period.’ Talk about understatement!
