Bill Maher’s wrath rages like the wildfires in Los Angeles, pouring scorn on the state’s hapless politicians and attacking the so-called diversity, equity, and inclusion policies with unbridled vitriol. In this one-party state, the Democrats have managed to evade responsibility, blaming the wind for the woes, a half-truth at best. Global warming certainly exacerbates the situation, but it’s largely beyond our control. Are they planning to vote to ensure the Chinese stop burning coal? Maher ridicules the leadership, comparing the LA mayor, Karen Bass, to the Roman Emperor Nero, celebrating in Ghana while the city burned. In a sarcastic remark, he jokes about paying 13% of his income to people he assumed were dealing with such matters. He mentioned the mayor and the governor but seemed more concerned with policymakers trying to fill fiscal gaps through increased taxes. Maher even questioned the gender identity of the LA Fire Chief, suggesting her sexual orientation might have impacted her performance at work. He mentioned ‘wokeness,’ but seemed to believe it wasn’t the main cause of the fires, calling the local politicians’ DEI initiatives an ‘unforced error’.
