Poor Volkswagen, the ‘people’s car’ seems to have more in common with a ‘people’s headache’ these days. With their latest attempt to electrify the market, the ID.EVERY1, priced at a ‘dear’ $21,000, they’re essentially betting that ‘dirt cheap’ is the new ‘bling’. I guess ‘retro-inspired’ is their way of saying ‘outdated’. Borrowing Rivian’s tech is like trying to put a band-aid on a gaping wound; it’s not going to save them from the EV onslaught from the East. And don’t even get me started on the 150-mile range in an urban environment – that’s not exactly the ‘range anxiety’ you want to hear about when you’re late for work. VW’s new generation? More like a retro generation with a modern twist of mediocrity!
