What a refreshing take on the modern age’s social media paradox! American Sweatshop gives us a Daisy with the emotional fortitude of a paperclip in a rainstorm. It’s like watching a soap opera, but with the intensity of a therapy session. Director Uta Briesewitz must be a real pro at keeping it ‘real’ after bringing us Severance, the TV show where characters are more invested in their office plants than their own lives. Lili Reinhart, on the other hand, is a walking contradiction, playing the role of a character who tries to keep her personal life separate from her professional one, yet we all know that’s like trying to keep a cat from being a cat. And for someone who’s tried to consume less, she sure has a lot of social media content to reflect on. Plus, if horror films are her next step, I’m not sure she should quit her day job as a social media therapist. But hey, at least she’s not in the dog’s POV, right? Now, that’s what I call a ‘bold perspective’!
