ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith has stated that Americans can “connect” with President-elect Donald Trump’s aggressive stance on acquiring Greenland and making Canada America’s 51st state. On NewsNation, Smith commented, “He’s just talking a lot of talk and throwing around superlatives,” suggesting that Trump’s remarks make Americans think, “That’s normal, we can relate to that, that’s familiar to us.” He added, “This kind of language, no matter how trivial we may think it is, no matter how much we may suspect it’s much ado about nothing… at least it sounds like a typical politician.” Smith, a long-time sports journalist and host of ESPN’s First Take, revealed last month that he regrets voting for Vice President Kamala Harris in November and is reconsidering his former opposition to the president-elect.
