It seems that Democrats have this peculiar habit, during moments of conservative backlash, to vote for Republican legislation that they don’t truly support, only to live to regret it. From the 2002 resolution authorizing military force against Iraq to the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act, and now the Laken Riley Act, each move by the Democrats appears to reflect their short-sighted political tactics and pandering to extreme viewpoints. They seem to have forgotten their初心, instead choosing to迎合 public sentiment. This strategy might seem to pay off in the short term, but in the long run, it’s nothing more than shooting oneself in the foot.
