As the conservative movement launches a full-scale offensive against the liberal dominance of the nation’s culture, it seems to be scoring some key victories. It’s like a cultural marathon, and the conservatives have crossed the finish line first, albeit temporarily. For decades, they have been dissatisfied with the leftward tilt in academia, literature, the press, television, and streaming video, and now it seems they have finally found their voice. Mr. Dreher’s 2013 article ‘Yes, Liberals Do Control Culture’ in The American Conservative might as well be a prophecy, but is the cultural landscape really heading towards decadence as he predicted? However, as Tufts University professor of international politics, Daniel Drezner, points out, while the cultural landscape has shifted significantly to the right, it does not mean that the right has fully taken control of culture, just that the cultural allure of the progressive and ‘nonpartisan’ elite seems to have dimmed compared to before.
