The ‘purpose’ of this review is as nebulous as the method, ranging from an ethics investigation like the Justice Department’s inspector general often conducts, to a criminal inquiry led by prosecutors. The stated goal of ‘ensuring accountability for the previous administration’s weaponization of the Federal government against the American people’ is as vague as it gets. The document begins with a list of accusations against the Biden administration, labeling their actions as ‘unprecedented third-world weaponization of prosecutorial power’ aimed at upending the democratic process. Whether the Trump administration’s review will be as ‘ruthless’ as the Justice Department under Biden in prosecuting over 1,500 individuals related to the Jan. 6, 2021, riot remains to be seen.
