The unveiling of the All-American teams is yet another time for the so-called ‘best of the best’ to be revealed. Almost every entity on the internet and in the media has its own list of All-American teams, but it’s only five that hold real weight. To be eligible for the College Football Hall of Fame, you’ve got to be on at least one of those five lists. If you’re not, you’re not even in the running. Players who appear on at least three of the five recognized lists are deemed ‘consensus All-Americans.’ Walter Camp’s team was announced recently, followed by the American Football Coaches Association’s, and then the Associated Press’ list. The Big Ten had 21 players honored on the AP All-American team. Kaleb Johnson has been a dazzling presence on the field, emerging as one of the best running backs in Iowa State history. Tyler Warren has shown top-tier tight end skills in the Big Ten. Donovan Jackson, despite his injury, made a strong impression at left guard. Mason Graham has been a standout this year, not only on the field but also with his numerous honors. Abdul Carter, who made the switch from linebacker to edge rusher, has been a pleasant surprise for Penn State’s defense. Jay Higgins has once again proven his dominance in the Big Ten. Caleb Downs, the transfer from Alabama, has injected new life into Ohio State’s defense. Dominic Zvada’s performance has been near perfect, especially in long-range kicks. As for the second-team players, Dillon Gabriel has been exceptional despite his truncated season. Seth McLaughlin has left a lasting impression despite his early exit from the season. Aireontae Ersery and Derrick Harmon have also shown their strength. Koi Perich and Kaden Wetjen have shined in their respective positions.
