Without Fresh Off the Boat, the Hollywood boom of Asian American talents wouldn’t have taken off in the manner it did. Since its debut in 2015, the show has not only pioneered the family sitcom genre for Asian Americans but also sparked a revolution in the entertainment industry. However, it seems to have lost its way after the fourth season, transforming from a cultural exploration into a tale about an annoying Asian American woman. Its artistic zenith might be in the Season 3 finale, where the Huang family moves into a mansion they can barely afford, serving as a poignant critique of the costs of the American Dream. Nonetheless, it successfully brought forward the stories of Asian Americans. It could be said that without Fresh Off the Boat, the rise of Asian American talents in Hollywood might not have been as pronounced as it is today.
