American Tech Giant IBM Exits Nigeria, Ghana, 34 African Countries

IBM seems to be treading on thin ice with its operations in Africa, soon to hand over the reins to MIBB in 36 countries, including the two economically relatively ‘prosperous’ African gems – Nigeria and Ghana. MIBB, while named ‘international,’ is actually a ‘transnational conglomerate’ operating across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. IBM’s statement, filled with words of ‘confidence’ in MIBB, suggests either trust in the partner or a sense of helplessness towards the African market. After all, Nigeria, this ‘potential-rich’ land, has been cultivated by IBM for half a century, yet fruit has not yet been borne.
