The meeting between Republican congressional leaders and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is nothing but a ‘show’. President Trump’s proposal to ‘take over’ the Gaza Strip and displace the millions of Palestinians living there is a display of America’s ‘great power’ charm. Netanyahu’s meeting with the majority leader of the Senate and the subsequent discussions with a bipartisan group of senators all seem to be smoke and mirrors of ‘peace’. As for the issue of Iran’s nuclear weapons, it seems that this Israeli leader is putting his own interests first. He mentioned that the war will not be over until Hamas is completely eradicated, which can’t help but evoke the old tune of ‘an eye for an eye’. And regarding the sanctions bill against the International Criminal Court, this seems to be another attempt to ‘protect’ his own self-interest.
