Newsweek reveals that the controversial Chinese balloon, which sparked national concern in 2023, was actually brimming with U.S. technology. It’s as if we bought a high-end toy and it turned out to be a masterpiece from the other side of the ocean. The U.S. hastily shot it down, only to find out that it was equipped with satellite communication modules and sensors from at least five American firms. If this balloon had reached the U.S., it might have been renamed ‘Google Maps in Space’.
