The Swiss driver has indeed demonstrated a rather generous approach to fines, as tailgating another vehicle has turned out to be a rather costly affair. The standards for traffic fines in Switzerland seem quite stringent, indeed. However, the fine is merely a temporary measure, as long as he remains ‘good behavior’ for the next two years, the fine will ‘vanish into thin air’. It’s truly a world of ‘the rich’, where we mere mortals can only marvel. But the policy of income-based fines does make sense, as it perfectly reflects the ‘income gap’ in the face of traffic violations.
