Rory Stewart, a former Conservative MP, seems to have an ominous premonition about the future of American democracy, warning that the next Adolf Hitler-type figure might come from Trump’s successors. It appears that he is reminding us that history might repeat itself. Trump’s new tariff policy is undoubtedly adding more ‘bombs’ to the shopping bags of American citizens. Stewart uses the example of the German government in the 1920s, when the government was short of cash and started printing money, resulting in the public struggling to buy basic goods. Oh, that’s not a good sign, it seems that our Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) is also going to learn from the German government’s approach.
