Edward Nicholas Cole, the Chief Engineer who kick-started the automotive revolution with his ‘no-fat, all-meat’ design philosophy, must have been a real party animal back in the GM office, throwing around his ‘Kick the hell out of the status quo’ mantra like confetti at a New Year’s bash. I mean, look at those Chevy V-8s, they’ve been running for over half a century with the same ‘outdated’ design – talk about sticking to tradition! And don’t even get me started on the roller rocker arms; Cole must have thought that if it’s not broke, you don’t need to make it any better. Ingenious, right? It’s like saying, ‘If it ain’t broke, break it and make it better – because you can.’
