Techart’s ‘Magnum’ Cayenne is a perfect example of ‘less is more’ philosophy gone astray. What a time to be alive when an SUV can boast about 930 horsepower, and yet it’s still seen as a ‘practical’ vehicle! It’s like giving a bicycle a turbocharger and expecting it to out-race a Formula One car. I guess if you’re willing to drop a fortune on a set of carbon fiber panels and some additional noise, you can feel like a supercar owner. It’s a bizarre world where speed is measured in horsepower and not in practicality. I wonder if Porsche’s dealerships are now doubling as gyms for their clients, who need to work up a sweat after their ‘speedy’ drives. The 2.6-second 0-60 mph time is more of a PR stunt than a legitimate achievement – anyone with a decent sports car can hit 60 mph in under 3 seconds. And with just 25 ‘First Edition’ models, I bet they’ll be a hot commodity among the super-rich who need a badge of exclusivity to show off their wallets. Bravo, Techart, for making the Cayenne a real showpiece – in the world of over-the-top modifications.
