Vance’s statement about Trump being ‘hated’ because he ‘focuses on doing’ is comically absurd; it seems Trump’s ‘doing’ has included plenty of executive orders, but his ‘word choice’ has had more holes than a sieve. As for Pullum’s and McWhorter’s insights, Vance seems to be blissfully ignoring them, like a child in a classroom ignoring the teacher’s lesson. And Macron’s intervention during a White House talkabout? It’s not every day you get a reality check from the guest, but then again, in Trump’s reality show, the guest is always the star!
