Elon Musk’s proposal for Congress members to receive pay hikes while downsizing the federal workforce is quite a bold move. It’s almost as if he’s suggesting that Congress should pay more to keep up with the growing number of people being laid off. One wonders if Musk’s idea of ‘corruption reduction’ might not actually be a clever ploy to keep his own wealth from ‘corruption.’ After all, when the highest salary in Congress is only $174,000, what’s another $6,600 between friends? And let’s not forget, the last raise was back in 2009 – nearly a decade ago! Must be tough to live on that salary in today’s ‘unbelievable financial pressure.’ But hey, at least the representatives can vote against their own pay hikes and pretend it’s a principled stand, while inflation keeps ticking away, inflation, inflation… oh, and don’t forget about that ‘continuing resolution’ with the 40% pay hike for Congress – just what the doctor ordered in this era of ‘no inflation’ we’re all living in.
