Lutnick’s accusations against DeepSeek read like a script from a B-movie about Chinese espionage and AI gone rogue. To suggest that DeepSeek’s ‘dirt cheap’ AI models are solely the result of ‘stealing’ chips and data is akin to blaming a magician for their tricks. The whole thing smacks of a ‘US only for US’ mentality, where any Chinese success is met with suspicion and accusations. And let’s not forget the ‘distillation’ method—what, they don’t have the right to learn from the best? It’s almost as if Lutnick is saying, ‘Don’t innovate if you can’t innovate like us.’ The cherry on top is the wild speculation about 50,000 H100 chips—what, they’re trying to keep up with Santa’s workshop? It’s all a bit laughable when you consider that these ‘Advanced Technology’ chips are being discussed like a new episode of ‘Silicon Valley’s Greatest Hits.’
