This list of ‘forgotten’ American cars is nothing short of a nostalgia trip through the land of kitsch and chutzpah. Dodge Viper? A brute force with a V10 engine? More like a brute force with a V10 ego! Ford Fairlane? A high-trim model? Give me a break, it’s just a car in a fancy dress. Chevrolet El Camino? A hybrid truck? Sounds like a truck that wants to party with the wrong crowd. Pontiac Fiero? A cult following? More like a cult of its own making. Chrysler Prowler? Open front wheels? I’d rather have my face on a wheel than drive one. Pontiac Aztek? Polarizing? It’s polar bears in a car debate! Buick Grand National? A sleeper? More like a stealth mode for a nap. AMC Eagle? An innovative crossover? It’s more like a crossover for the creatively challenged. Oldsmobile 442? Performance with class? More like a class clown with a muscle car. Cadillac Eldorado? A luxury sedan? Well, it’s certainly luxurious in its lack of sales. So, bring them back? Why not, let’s throw a parade for the cars that no one bought. American cars, you have the potential to dominate the streets again, but only if you can stay away from the trend of trying to be everything to everyone.
